Six ways to school your kids in Gilbert.

Most families only know about the first one. Arizona gives you all six. Here's the plain-language version of each — what it is, what it costs, and what it asks of you. Which one fits is yours to decide; my job is to make sure you saw them all.

Public district schools

Gilbert Public Schools, Higley Unified and Chandler Unified each serve parts of town. Your address sets your assigned school, but Arizona's open enrollment lets you apply to other schools in any district if they have room.

Charter schools

Public, free, and not tied to where you live. Gilbert has a deep bench of charters running very different models — classical, STEM, arts, project-based. Many carry waitlists, so enrollment windows matter.

Tuition · ESA-eligible

Private & faith-based schools

Independent schools with their own admissions, calendars and culture. Arizona's ESA program can be applied toward tuition at many of them.

Small · flexible

Micro schools & learning pods

Small mixed-age groups, often 8 to 20 students, sometimes on a farm or in a home or church. My own kids attend one. These run on relationships and word of mouth — which is exactly why they're hard to find, and why they're on the map.

State funding · any path

Empowerment Scholarship Accounts

Arizona's ESA program gives eligible families state education funds to spend on private tuition, micro schools, tutoring, curriculum and more. Amounts and rules change every year — always verify with the Arizona Department of Education.

Home-based · community

Homeschool & co-ops

Arizona requires a simple affidavit with the county, and the East Valley has a large network of co-ops, hybrid programs and enrichment days to build a week around.

Most searches start by typing a school name into Google and reading strangers' opinions. This one starts with the whole landscape, and ends with you standing in the room.

See everything that exists

Open the map and filter by grade band, approach, ESA accepted, class size and distance. You'll find programs you didn't know were three minutes away — the ones with no marketing budget.

Build a shortlist of three

Star the ones worth a visit. A free account keeps that list on your phone and your laptop. Then use the tour questions — the answers tell you more than any brochure.

Why this exists

I went looking for this map, couldn't find it, and built it.

I'm Sammy Majidi, a Gilbert mom of three. When I started looking for the right school for my own kids, I found ranking sites, a district boundary tool, and a lot of Facebook threads. What I could not find was one place that simply showed me everything available — including the small programs that turned out to be the best fit.

My kids attend a Gilbert micro school. I've worked through district, charter, ESA and homeschool options as a parent, not as a theory.
Skool Gilbert lists options by type and never ranks them. A Montessori school and a classical academy are different, not better or worse.
It stays free on both sides, so nobody's placement is for sale and nothing you see here is an advertisement in disguise.
